The Serve IT Mission
Serve IT’s mission is to apply technology skills of undergraduate students in order to build capacity in the local nonprofit community to better serve their own missions.
Technology for Social Good
Often small nonprofits do not have the resources necessary to fulfill their information technology needs. Serve IT is the bridge that connects IU students who have in-demand technology skills with the nonprofits who need them. We believe that technology can be used to help level the playing field for nonprofits and their constituents and stakeholders. Serve IT offers students the opportunity to support nonprofit professionals technologically, gaining skills while enabling this important community sector to work more efficiently to solve our community’s most complex social problems.
Serve IT is a collaborative effort involving many different partners within Indiana University and the greater Monroe County area. Housed in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, the clinic partners include the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, University Information Technology Services (UITS), the IU Office of Service Learning, and the Kelley School of Business. Community collaborators include the City of Bloomington, The United Way of Monroe County, the Bloomington Volunteer Network, and the Community Foundation.
The Serve IT Clinic wouldn’t be what it is without our sponsors who help fund the clinic and provide a number of crucial resources.
